Salvador Tech’s Cyber Recovery Unit (CRU) is a hardware-based backup and recovery solution specifically designed for OT (EKS) environments. It ensures operational continuity and backup integrity by preventing critical Windows-based devices (HMI, OPC, Historian, Engineering Workstation, etc.) from downtime caused by hardware failure or cyberattacks.

CRU offers advantages such as rapid recovery within minutes, hardware-based redundancy for critical stations, compatibility with legacy OT operating systems, and operation independent of the network. With its architecture suitable for isolated environments, it provides immutable backups and bootable copies. In this way, secure backups remain constantly accessible against attacks or failures. CRU contains three separate NVMe disks, with only one actively connected to the system. The other disks are kept completely isolated (air-gapped) to prevent attackers’ access. Since these images are stored offline with an air gap, they are fully protected from threats such as unauthorized access, encryption, or deletion. As a result, the user can quickly boot and restore the system from the Salvador disk with a single click, without requiring any IT intervention.

Computers and backups are monitored 24/7; when suspicious activity is detected, the system automatically applies quarantine and prevents malicious content from being backed up. At the same time, real-time notifications are sent to both the user and the administrator, ensuring fast response and maintaining the integrity of the backups.

It is seamless and extremely simple. Remove the Salvador unit and connect it to another device without shutting down your workstation, then boot from that device. Complete the recovery test within 30 seconds without affecting the live environment.

Thanks to Salvador’s air-gap architecture, recovery copies are inaccessible during an attack; even in the event of infection, the backups remain protected. The second and third copies are secured with a patented offline protection layer and can only be accessed through authorized Salvador software; the disks themselves are invisible to the operating system.
