Mess Technology Center Factory Automation Industrial Cyber Security Workshop

We completed the Mess Technology Center Factory Automation Industrial Cyber Security Workshop on dates covering the period January 2023 - March 2023.

We tested the products of participating manufacturers Garland Technology, SCADAfence, SafeBreach and Salvador Technologies at the Factory Automation Industrial Cyber Security Workshop sponsored by OTD Bilişim.

Imagine digitalized production in an environment where everything is digital. Our role in these modern production facilities is to ensure cyber security. Cyber security is very important for us. One of our most important goals is not to forget cyber security while modernizing the facilities. As OTD BİLİŞİM, we contacted MESS to emphasize cyber security in all production facilities. We organized a cyber security workshop here. Our aim was to protect industrial equipment, that is, to avoid the risk of cyber attacks. First of all, we learned how the systems here work and made detailed analyzes. Then we activated SCADAfence and Garland to ensure the visibility of the factory. Using Garland's TAP solutions, we performed packet mirroring and started to export the traffic there. With our automation becoming visible, we established a cyber intelligence center. Since SCADAfence is a platform that performs real-time cyber intelligence analysis, the inventory of the environment and the communication practices of the manufacturers in the ecosystem were revealed. All these were classified in detail. In addition, the security side was checked and looked for suspicious traffic. While all this was being done, we made attack simulations through SafeBreach, our red team solution. Thus, thanks to this solution that simulates attacks, the results of the attacks were analyzed and analyzed. We especially focused on the alarms given by SCADAfence. In this way, we learned that we can prevent an attack that can stop a line in factory automation. We also had the opportunity to test Salvador. Salvador Technologies is a platform that allows you to overcome a crisis by standing up your device in emergency situations. Offline backup saves your data in a crisis. There is no security problem when backups are made, Salvador is a device that cannot be hacked. In this way, we can bring your industrial devices back to life in 30 seconds, where we take backup in 20-25 seconds. The most important conclusion we have drawn as a result of this workshop is to increase cyber security investments in these areas. Security should not only be focused on IT and security should also be increased in automation.
